TL;DR
ISL Light and ISL AlwaysOn support a full clipboard between your computer and a remote session, on Windows. Beyond plain text, you can copy and paste files, folders, and images in either direction, using the same Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V you’d use locally.
If remote support is part of your job, you already reach for copy and paste dozens of times a day. That’s why ISL Light and ISL AlwaysOn carry that same habit into the remote session: instead of opening a separate file transfer panel every time you need to hand off a document or a screenshot, you copy it on one side and paste it on the other, exactly as you would between two windows on your own desktop.
What you can copy and paste
The clipboard covers more than text. During a session, you can copy and paste:
- Files and folders, in either direction, with no fixed size limit. Larger items transfer in the background so the paste doesn’t block the rest of the session, and large files use a chunked, pipelined transfer method so pastes don’t stall waiting on a single slow round trip.
- Images, including screenshots taken with Print Screen.
- If you’re running more than one session at a time, clipboard operations apply to whichever session currently has focus, so switching between sessions doesn’t mean you’re pasting into the wrong window.
What to know
Generic clipboard support is available on Windows. Sessions involving macOS or Linux share plain text only.
