Note: This release is currently available to early adopters, cloud license accounts in Slovenia, Germany, Switzerland, and Great Britain. Other countries will follow within a few days, except Japan. Server license customers will receive it the next ISL Conference Proxy release.
π§ Improvements
Added support for cmdline --on-load "main?logo=...
The command line option to set a custom logo when starting the application (--on-load "main?logo=...“) had no effect. The logo can now be specified either as a local file path or as a web address, and supported image formats are BMP, JPG, JPEG, PNG and SVG; the specified image is shown in place of the default logo.
Simplyfing QML Code for a vertical separator
The vertical separator on the login screen now uses a fixed height again, matching the other vertical separators in the application.
π Security
Rebuilt libdatachannel with new code signing certificate
The libdatachannel library used in ISL Light was rebuilt so that it is signed with the new code signing certificate.
Upgraded mbedTLS to 4.1.1
The internal mbedTLS library was updated to version 4.1.1.
π Bug Fixes
Clipboard “Paste Typing” fix
Fixed an issue with the “paste clipboard content by simulating typing” option. Clipboard entries that applications provide only on demand (for example, text copied from some office applications) could be typed as unreadable characters or not typed at all. The clipboard text is now resolved at its source and capped at a reasonable length before typing.
macOS 27: Fix “Install” loop
On macOS, installing ISL Light could fail silently so that the application was never registered as installed and kept prompting to install or run it on every start. The installation procedure was redesigned so that running instances are closed reliably and installation errors are reported, and the issue is no longer reproducible.
Note: This release is currently available to early adopters, cloud license accounts in Slovenia, Germany, Switzerland, and Great Britain. Other countries will follow within a few days, except Japan. Server license customers will receive it the next ISL Conference Proxy release.
π New Feature
Universal actions on macOS
Actions now run on both mac and macarm64 devices. Universal actions:
Shutdown
Wake-on-LAN
Change password
System information
π Security
Rebuilt libdatachannel with new code signing certificate
The libdatachannel library used by ISL AlwaysOn was rebuilt so that it is signed with the new code signing certificate.
Upgraded mbedTLS to 4.1.1
The internal mbedTLS library was updated to version 4.1.1.

π New Feature
“Stay logged in” (persistent login)
ISL Light now supports persistent login on the server side, so users stay logged in between application launches. Instead of a password, a rotating one-time token is stored on the device, it changes on every login. Reusing an old, already-rotated token is treated as theft and revokes that login chain. The chain is also tied to the country it was created from, so logging in from a different country revokes it and requires a full login again. It’s automatically revoked on a password reset, email change, account disable, or any 2FA change, and can also be revoked remotely by an admin at any time.
On by default for regular cloud accounts, nothing to configure on the user side.
Off by default for accounts using SSO or an external identity provider; an administrator has to enable it for them.
Account owners and domain admins can manage this in Administration > Settings > Security, and can be set for the domain, or one user:
Allow “Stay logged in”, on by default, master on/off switch.
Allow “Stay logged in” for SSO and external users, off by default.
“Stay logged in” idle lifetime, default 2 weeks, resets on each use; inactivity beyond this logs the user out.
“Stay logged in” maximum duration, default 365 days, hard cap from first login regardless of activity.
SSO: ISL Light doesn’t re-check the identity provider on each launch, so disabling/deleting a user there does not immediately end an active session. To cut access off immediately, disable/delete the user in the web portal instead.
--skip-persistent-login, which disables persistent login for that run
--show-native-app-login, which requests the username and password login screen.
Persistent login is also automatically skipped when ISL Light is started with –username, –password or –web-login.
ISL Light > Login (asked only the first time)
Important: Login will move from in-app email/password fields to a Login with browser button. The user logs in once in their browser, and ISL Light then signs them in automatically on every future launch, no browser window, no login screen, no credentials to re-enter.
Customizable shortcuts: Ctrl+Alt+Del and Paste Typing
Two new keyboard shortcuts are available during a session to windows devices, both enabled by default:
ISL Light > In Session > Tools Menu > Paste Typing and Ctrl+Alt+Del shortcuts exposed.
Right Ctrl + Alt + End: Added a keyboard shortcut for sending Ctrl + Alt + Del to the remote computer, since that combination is reserved by the local device. The shortcut can be changed under the shortcut settings, where shortcuts with multiple keys are now displayed and a warning is shown if the chosen combination is already used by another action.
Right Ctrl + Shift + V: Added a configurable keyboard shortcut for Paste Typing (simulate typing), which pastes clipboard contents by simulating keystrokes on the remote computer. The default shortcut is Right Ctrl+Shift+V and it can be changed in the shortcut settings. The Tools menu item was renamed from “Paste” to “Paste Typing” and now shows the assigned shortcut.
Both appear in the Tools dropdown with their shortcut shown, and can be enabled/disabled/rebound in Settings under the renamed Shortcuts section (was “Monitor Shortcuts”). Only the last key (End / V) is customizable; Right Ctrl and the modifier are fixed.
ISL Light > Settings > Remote Desktop > Shortcuts
Copy/paste now supports more formats
Copy/paste between operator and customer now carries more formats: HTML, RTF, CSV, XML Spreadsheet, and Excel data, plus images copied from apps that only provide PNG, DIBV5, or CF_BITMAP (e.g. the new Paint, Snipping Tool, Excel), these used to be lost entirely. Formats are only rendered when the paste target actually requests them, so this doesn’t add overhead for a plain-text paste.
ISL Light Client on Linux Wayland (Limited support)
ISL Light Client on Linux (attended remote support) can now capture the screen and remote-control a Wayland session (via XDG Desktop Portal + PipeWire), including multi-monitor setup.
This is a limited-support feature. Known limitations in this version:
Not supported when connecting to ISL AlwaysOn for unattended access.
The remote Linux machine must be set to 100% display scaling; non-default scaling (125%, 150%, 200%, etc.) is not yet supported and is planned for a future release.
Clipboard only works one way. Copy/paste from operator to client works; copy/paste from client to operator does not.
Custom region display freezes for the operator. Under Desktop > Display Area > Custom region, the operator sees the selected region but the image is frozen, mouse movement and clicks on the Linux machine aren’t shown, even though they happen locally.
Session recording playback can miss actions. Playback runs slower than the live session, so quick clicks and actions during the session may not appear in the recording.
The Marker tool doesn’t draw. The toolbar shows the Marker option, but whiteboard/drawing tools aren’t supported on Wayland yet; trying to draw controls the remote screen instead.
A “feature not supported” pop-up can ignore mouse clicks. Seen going from Ubuntu 24 (Wayland) to Ubuntu 26 (Wayland) when selecting Marker; the pop-up can only be dismissed with Enter, not a click.
Sharing doesn’t resume after a lock/unlock. If the Linux client locks the screen during streaming, the operator sees a gray screen even after the user logs back in, the client user has to click Stop Sharing and start sharing again to recover.
Redesigned “New Session” window
Redesigned “New Session” window that appears when starting a remote support session.
ISL Light > New Session Window
Session name can be edited directly in the window (no more separate edit step after the session starts).
Session codes are now split into groups of 3 digits: Codes display as e.g. 123 456 78 instead of one long string.
Session Code and Session Link each have their own copy button with a “Copied” confirmation.
An “Invite via email” section is built into the window (Settings + Send), so you don’t need to go to Settings first. Send shows a “Sent” confirmation.
If your admin has disabled clipboard-copy for the URL or code, or disabled email invites, those sections are hidden automatically.
The status bar text while waiting for the customer to join has been updated.
Session > Edit Session (toolbar) and Security icon > Details still work as before.
Disabled buttons no longer show a hover state.
Install ISL Light remotely during a session
From Tools > Install ISL Light, an operator can now trigger installation of the full ISL Light app on the customer’s machine during any active session (ISL Light Client), the same option is available to the customer from their ISL Light Client > Settings menu. No manual download/website step needed for future sessions once installed. Naming/branding follows whatever customization is active for whoever triggered the install.
“Install ISL Light” menu item can be hidden with the command-line: --on-load "customization?disable_install_isllight=true".
The ISL Light desktop app (login window and dashboard) now has menu items for Send Feedback, What’s New, and Help & Manuals. These open the relevant page in your browser; if you’re logged in, feedback and what’s-new links carry your login automatically.
All three menu items can be hidden with command-line: --on-load "customization?disable_feedback=true".
ISL Light > Sessions / Computers > Menu
WebAuthn (FIDO2) support for Windows clients
ISL Light on Windows now reports to the server that it supports WebAuthn-based two-factor authentication, so security key login can use WebAuthn when the server offers it, replacing the older U2F/FIDO1 method that browsers and operating systems are phasing out. (macOS/Linux support is separate, not yet included.)
π§ Improvements
Faster large clipboard pastes
Pasting files that are copied from a remote clipboard is now faster. Chunks of file data are requested in advance and served from a buffer instead of waiting for each chunk to be fetched one at a time, which noticeably reduces transfer time for large files on slower connections. (Also fixed a related bug where chunk-size handling was reading the wrong setting internally.)
ISL Light Client window opened too large when using –touch-pad
Joining a session with numeric keypad in ISL Light Client or the --touch-pad command-line option used to leave the client window taller than needed after joining. The window now correctly resizes to its normal session size once the session starts.
π Bug Fixes
Stopping clipboard sharing could hang
Users experienced an issue where stopping clipboard sharing could hang in some cases, when the helper process handling the clipboard was not running at that moment, leaving the clipboard connection open instead of closing it. The functionality was redesigned and the issue is no longer reproducible.
Clipboard could miss content copied before the session was ready
Clipboard monitoring on the shared computer now starts inactive and begins reporting clipboard changes only after the session connection is fully established. Content copied before that point is not transferred; the next copy is picked up normally.
Clipboard did not work right after the remote desktop view opened
In some sessions the clipboard did not work correctly right after the remote desktop view was opened, because session components were initialized in an inconsistent order. The initialization order was made deterministic, and clipboard now works from the start of the first desktop stream.
Security-key login could silently fail in some flows
A required flag telling the server the client supports WebAuthn was missing from one code path (the login dialog), which could prevent security-key-only 2FA users from logging in via that path once WebAuthn 2FA is enabled server-side.
Note: This release is currently available to early adopters, cloud license accounts in Slovenia, Germany, Switzerland, and Great Britain. Other countries will follow within a few days, except Japan. Server license customers will receive it the next ISL Conference Proxy release.

π New Features
Launch installed ISL Light when joining a session
Joining a session now has less friction, and fewer steps for the customer joining. Previously, every session join re-downloaded a single-use ISL Light executable regardless of whether the client was already installed on the machine. This added unnecessary download time to every session start.
Automatic session code detection on the join page: as soon as someone enters a valid session code, the page recognizes it and moves straight to the next screen, no need to press Join first.
Running the installed app: if ISL Light is already installed, the user gets a browser prompt to open it. If they tick “always allow”, future sessions skip the prompt entirely, just entering the code or opening the link is enough. No extra clicks, and no waiting on a download they don’t need.
Same behavior on invite links: opening a invite link also triggers the prompt or launches the installed app automatically.
Download flow for new users: if ISL Light isn’t installed, the automatic session code detection still moves to the next page, and shows a Download button. Once clicked, the user gets confirmation that the download has started and a prompt to run the installer.
Retry button: on the join screen, a “Launch application” button lets the user try opening the app again without reloading the page, useful if they missed the initial prompt.
Custom branding for enterprise customers: admins can configure their own app name/branding so that a customer’s branded client opens instead of default ISL Light.
islonline.net (Join a Session) > Running the installed app
Next Quarter
Deep linking coverage extends to the operator side:
Operators running sessions from the web portal will get the same launch behavior, instead of downloading the application each time.
Inviting an additional operator into an already-running session will also use deep linking, so the invited operator joins through the installed app rather than a fresh download.
Session codes are now split into groups of 3 digits
Codes display as e.g. 123 456 78 instead of one long string or hyphenated blocks, while typing them into a join field. Spaces are inserted automatically as you type, and pasted codes work with or without spaces. This will apply also to ISL Light in next release aka makes codes easier to read out and reduces typos.

π New Feature
Native support for Apple Silicon (arm64)
ISL Light is now available as a native application for Macs with Apple Silicon (M1 and newer). This means Rosetta is no longer required to run ISL Light on these devices. If you are currently using the Intel-based version of ISL Light on an Apple Silicon Mac, no manual action is required: after upgrading to this version, future updates will automatically switch ISL Light from the Intel (mac) platform to the native Apple Silicon (macarm64) platform.
Important: macOS devices upgraded from ISL Light 5.0.2551.156 or earlier will remain on the Intel (mac) platform after upgrading to this release. Once ISL Light 5.0.2551.176 is installed, a subsequent upgrade will automatically migrate the installation to the native Apple Silicon (macarm64) platform on supported Macs. To migrate immediately, download and reinstall the latest ISL Light version from the Downloads page.
No action is required for ISL Light Client, as it is downloaded from our servers for each session and will automatically use the updated version.
ISL Light > About > Platform: macOS Apple silicon (macarm64) | Click on app name to display this info
“Send to ISL Light” in context menu
When connected to an ISL Light Client session, you can right-click a file or folder and select Send to > ISL Light to send it to the other side of the session. This release adds support for customer-to-operator transfers through the right-click menu, enabling two-way file transfers in ISL Light Client sessions. Right-click transfers from the operator to the customer were already supported, while customer-to-operator transfers were available in the legacy ISL Light Client and have now been restored in this version. With this addition, ISL Light Client now matches ISL AlwaysOn, which already supports right-click file transfers in both directions.
File Explorer (right click) > Send to > ISL light
π§ Improvements
More reliable clipboard sync on Windows
On Windows, clipboard sharing could seem unresponsive right after a session started, because the clipboard driver reported its initial state before the session was ready to receive it, and an identical follow-up copy was then silently ignored. Clipboard sharing now waits until the session is ready, so copying and pasting between computers works reliably from the start.
Remembers the last folder on both sides for current session
File Manager, along with the Send Files and Receive Files dialogs, now consistently reopen to the last local and remote folder you browsed to during the session, on both the operator and client side. Previously, File Manager could still reset back to Desktop on the client side, and Send Files / Receive Files always opened to Desktop by default. Now all three remember exactly where you left off during the session, saving time on repeated transfers. Each new session starts from the default folder again.
TLS 1.3 support for end-to-end connections
End-to-end (E2E) encrypted connections now negotiate TLS 1.3 when both sides support it, and fall back to TLS 1.2 otherwise. The negotiated protocol version is shown in the session security details.
π Bug Fixes
Fixed incorrect file name when sending files to the client
On Windows, sending a file to the remote computer using “Send to” showed .lnk instead of the file’s name in the transfer window on the client side. This has been fixed, and the correct name is now shown.
Fixed keyboard navigation and focus issues
Tab and back-tab navigation didn’t work correctly on a number of screens: the “Update Available” notice on the login screen couldn’t be reached, the back button on the login expired screen couldn’t be reached, focus didn’t move correctly on the two-factor authentication screen, and navigation didn’t work correctly on the “Enter a verification code” and “Sign in with organization” pages. This has been fixed on all of these screens.
Fixed tab state in Share Group and Share Computer dialogs
Tabs in the Share Group and Share Computer dialogs did not indicate which tab was active to accessibility tools such as screen readers. This has been fixed, and the active tab is now announced correctly.
Fixed File Manager accessibility for the parent directory row
The row for moving to the parent directory in the File Manager window was not exposed correctly to accessibility tools, so the whole file browser was selected instead of that row. This has been fixed.
Note: This release is currently available to cloud license accounts in all countries, except Japan. Server license customers will receive it the next ISL Conference Proxy release.
π New Feature
Native support for Apple Silicon (arm64)
ISL AlwaysOn is now available as a native application for Macs with Apple Silicon (M1 and newer). This means Rosetta is no longer required to run ISL AlwaysOn on these devices. If you are currently using the Intel-based version of ISL AlwaysOn on an Apple Silicon Mac, no manual action is required: after upgrading to this version, future updates will automatically switch ISL AlwaysOn from the Intel (mac) platform to the native Apple Silicon (macarm64) platform.
Important: macOS devices upgraded from ISL AlwaysOn 5.0.2551.156 or earlier will remain on the Intel (mac) platform after upgrading to this release. Automatic migration to the native Apple Silicon (macarm64) platform requires this release (or later) to be installed first. As a result, a subsequent upgrade will automatically migrate ISL AlwaysOn 5.0.2551.176 to a native Apple Silicon (macarm64) version on supported Macs. To migrate immediately, reinstall ISL AlwaysOn using:
ISL AlwaysOn (remote agent) > About > Platform: macOS Apple silicon (macarm64) | Click on app name to display this info
Users without administrator rights can now start upgrades without a UAC or authentication prompt
Starting an upgrade from ISL AlwaysOn (About window or overview) no longer requires the user to elevate. The upgrade is now handed over to the already running ISL AlwaysOn service, so users without administrative rights are not shown the Windows UAC prompt or the authentication dialog on macOS and Linux. Repeated upgrade requests within a short period are ignored while an upgrade is already running.
π§ Improvement
More reliable clipboard sync on Windows
On Windows, copying certain content between the local and remote computer, such as files attached directly from an email or other virtual-file clipboard content, could fail to transfer. Clipboard handling was corrected, so these transfers now complete successfully.
Renamed the automatic updates setting for clarity
The checkbox in Settings β Basic β Computers previously labeled “Enable automatic updates” has been renamed to “Allow remote upgrades” to better describe what it controls.
Note: This release is currently available to cloud license accounts in all countries, except Japan. Server license customers will receive it the next ISL Conference Proxy release.
π New Feature
Delete user from Administration
You can now delete users directly from Administration > Users, instead of only from the legacy Users page. Before you delete a user, a confirmation prompt lists everything the deletion will remove.
Administrators must assign the “Create, edit and delete users” permission (Settings > General > Domain Administration), which can be set at the domain, or individual user level.
We plan to retire the legacy Users page in 2027, once Administration supports all of its features. Administration still needs: import users CSV, domain customization (enabling the end of session dialog for ISL Light and ISL Light Client), domain name change, configure live chat, and user limitations (permissions to access reports settings)
Web Portal > Administration > Users > Side Panel (Delete User)
Note: This release is currently available to cloud license accounts in all countries, except Japan. Server license customers will receive it the next ISL Conference Proxy release.
π Bug Fix
Fixed Ctrl+Alt+Del not working with strict Secure Attention Sequence (SAS) policies
The previous release (5.0.2551.150) switched Ctrl+Alt+Del handling to the native Windows SAS API. On computers where the Group Policy “Disable or enable software Secure Attention Sequence” was enabled with the application allowed to generate SAS set to None, this API call silently failed, so operators could no longer send Ctrl+Alt+Del to the remote computer. This only affected version 5.0.2551.150. The change has been reverted, restoring the previous internal SAS handling, and Ctrl+Alt+Del now works reliably again in these environments.
Note: This release is currently available to cloud license accounts in all countries, except Japan. Server license customers will receive it the next ISL Conference Proxy release.
