Here we are, nearing the end of another remarkable year, and it’s time to reflect on the journey we’ve taken in 2024. This blog post will take you through the highlights of the year, our key advancements, significant milestones, and proudest achievements, all against the backdrop of the major trends that shaped the remote desktop industry over the past twelve months.

Trends That Shaped 2024
The remote desktop industry in 2024 has been defined by important advancements and challenges. AI technology has elevated tools with smarter automation and predictive capabilities, while the shift to hybrid work has driven demand for seamless remote access. However, a surge in cyberattacks targeting vulnerabilities, from credential theft to software exploits, has highlighted the critical importance of robust security. As organizations worldwide prioritize secure connections, the industry continues to innovate to meet these demands.
Security and Compliance: Upholding the Highest Standards
In 2024, ISL Online reinforced its commitment to security, compliance, and sustainability by achieving two significant certifications: the Esquema Nacional de Seguridad (ENS) and ISO 14001. The ENS certification demonstrates adherence to stringent security standards for organizations operating within Spain’s electronic administration ecosystem, while our longstanding ISO 27001 certification shows our dedication to protecting user data and maintaining robust information security practices. These achievements affirm our position as a trusted partner for secure remote desktop solutions in an industry facing increasing cyber threats.
Beyond security, ISL Online also prioritizes environmental responsibility, as evidenced by obtaining the ISO 14001 certification. This framework provides structured guidelines that help us measure and continually improve our environmental performance. By enabling users to reduce travel through remote work, our software supports companies in minimizing their environmental impact.
Our commitment to complying with laws and regulations, maintaining the highest standards of security, and advancing corporate social responsibility reflects our dedication to creating a safer, more sustainable future for businesses and communities worldwide.

Feature Highlights: Faster Remote Desktop
In 2024, we achieved substantial improvements in connection speed and remote desktop performance. The most significant advancement was the enhancement of ICE (Interactive Connectivity Establishment) functionality, which enabled faster and more efficient connections with expanded connectivity options. Alongside this, we introduced a range of updates and new features to further enhance the functionality and usability of ISL Online. These improvements were designed to address the evolving needs of our users while maintaining secure and reliable remote desktop connections. Below are some of the key features introduced this year:
Enhanced Speed with Direct Connection Feature
Earlier this year, we introduced the “Direct Connection” feature, designed to significantly improve the speed of ISL Light remote sessions. This feature automatically determines the most efficient connection method—either a direct session tunnel between local and remote computers or a routed connection. For example, with the direct connection feature, data is exchanged directly between two computers in the local network, bypassing servers that could be located far away.

Optimized Quality Enabled by Default
Remote support sessions now default to a “Quality Optimized” setting, streaming in 64k colors for enhanced image clarity. While this ensures high-quality visuals, users can switch to a “Speed Optimized” mode, which streams 256 colors, to reduce bandwidth usage when necessary. Beyond these two default modes, users have the flexibility to choose from additional options, such as streaming in 8-bit colors for even lower bandwidth consumption, depending on their needs.

Custom Deployment Link
Deploying unattended access across multiple computers has been simplified with the new Custom Deployment link wizard. This feature allows users to create custom deployment links or executable files with predefined parameters such as computer name, computer group, tags, and access password. The custom deployment link can also include a silent installation option, ensuring the unattended access agent is installed without any dialogs or user input required.

Remote Access to Android
This year, we introduced remote access for Android, enabling ISL Light to remotely connect to Android smartphones and tablets. Full remote control and unattended access are now supported for LG, Cyrus, and Honeywell devices through auto-downloaded add-ons, for older Samsung devices utilizing Samsung Knox, and for Zebra devices via APIs.
A universal add-on is currently in development to expand remote access and control to other Android devices. However, the remote user will need to approve a screen-sharing request to enable screen viewing and control of the Android device.

How to setup remote access on Android
Chat integration in ISL AlwaysOn sessions
Based on user feedback, many of our customers use ISL AlwaysOn (a remote access agent installed on remote computers) not only for unattended access but also for attended sessions initiated via the Computers Dashboard in ISL Light. To enhance these attended sessions, we introduced a chat dialog in the ISL AlwaysOn session window, enabling direct communication between end-users and operators during remote access.

Single Sign-On/SAML
To enhance both security and user convenience, ISL Light now supports Single Sign-On (SAML), enabling users to access multiple applications with one set of credentials. Organizations can securely log in via their identity provider using the SAML 2.0 protocol.

ISL Light Integration 1.0 for Freshdesk by Freshworks
We introduced an integration with Freshdesk, a leading customer support platform. This allows users to initiate remote support sessions directly from Freshdesk, streamlining support processes and improving response times.

Computer History
The new Computer History feature allows users to review details of all sessions connected to a specific computer running ISL AlwaysOn.

Support for Monitor Selection Using Keyboard Shortcuts
To improve usability, we added keyboard shortcuts on Windows for switching between multiple monitors during remote sessions, enhancing efficiency. Users can choose between two types of shortcuts: Move to next, previous, or all monitors and Direct monitor shortcuts. For added convenience, users have the option to display a list of these shortcuts in a window at the beginning of each session. This behavior can be managed in the settings.

Create Desktop Shortcut for a Computer
Users can now create desktop shortcuts for ISL Light, simplifying the connection process. Clicking the shortcut launches ISL Light and initiates the connection, prompting for login credentials and the specific computer’s access password.

Audio/Video Call on Android
ISL Light for Android now supports audio or video call, with ringtone alerts for incoming calls.

“Keyboard is/is not captured” Feedback Added to Status Bar
Feedback indicating whether the keyboard is being captured has been added to the main window when viewing the remote desktop. This information is displayed in the status bar at the bottom-right corner. Users can toggle the keyboard capture state by pressing the “Right Ctrl” button, switching focus between “Keyboard is captured” and “Keyboard is not captured.”

Require Email Authorization for Incoming Connections
This feature is designed for cases where a remote computer has a remote agent installed for unattended access but requires an additional layer of security before access is granted. With email authorization enabled, each time a connection is initiated, the remote side must approve it before the session can begin. The remote user is notified via email for each incoming connection attempt and is given the option to either approve or deny the request. This process ensures that no unauthorized access occurs, adding an important layer of control and security to the remote connection process.

Virtual Background
Users now have the option to modify their video background by applying an image background or blur effect.
