2009-11-02: XLAB expands its boundaries

Ljubljana, November 2nd 2009. XLAB was once again selected to travel to Japan on a business mission as part of the EU Gateway programme. In addition, XLAB attended a key IT conference in Florianópolis, the Brazilian Silicon Valley, as well as presented its ISL Online software solutions (www.islonline.com) at GITEX Technology week in Dubai recently.

XLAB chosen by the European Commission - once again
XLAB, the Slovenian high-tech company, once again succeeded in joining the top 40 European IT companies chosen by the European Commission, as part of the EU Gateway to Japan programme 2009. Once in Japan, it will showcase its innovative products and technology, while representing the European IT segment together with other chosen companies on the Programme. The EU Gateway to Japan Programme is part of a wider EU strategy with the main aim of enabling entry into the Japanese market by European companies. The XLAB representatives together with other selected companies will be on a business mission to Tokyo at the end of November. For XLAB, which was first selected to join the programme in 2005, this will be its 4th such mission. XLAB's entry into the Japanese market began a few years ago with its ISL Online internet communication services. Today its software is in use by some of the Japanese industrial giants.

XLAB chosen again, this time in Brazil
During the last week of October XLAB attended the International Business Round for innovative companies at the Global Forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Florianópolis, which is fast gaining a reputation for being the 'Brazilian Silicon Valley'. This Business Round is a joint effort between the Brazilian Association of Science Parks and Business Incubators, supported by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Commerce of Brazil. The organizers, in collaboration with Technology Parks from all around the world, attracted many IT companies to the event. Of these, fifteen of the most innovative, and potentially most interesting for Brazilian business, were selected, among which rated a successful XLAB.

Brazil alone is potentially a major new market for XLAB, while at the same time representing a stepping stone for entry into the remaining markets of Latin American countries. And finally, the international Forum event was an excellent opportunity to search for local business partners and getting to know the local IT market. ISL Online software solutions which XLAB intends to use for its entry into the Brazilian market have already been translated into Portuguese language, soon to follow with the Brazilian version.

The interesting Middle East
XLAB sells most of its ISL Online licenses within EU, Japan and USA markets. But since its future plans extend well beyond these boundaries, the company showcased its IT solutions at the region's largest ICT business event in Dubai, the GITEX Technology Week. XLAB's ISL Online tools for internet communications allow reliable and efficient IT support; tools that are of utmost importance in any information society. The fast-growing markets of the Middle East, where most countries enjoy above average purchasing power, are therefore of great interest to XLAB.

2009-06-15: XLAB - a success story of the EU Gateway to Japan Programme

June 15th 2009. XLAB, an internationally recognised IT company, reports a success story of the EU Gateway to Japan Programme, which is funded and managed by the European Commission to support EU companies in developing business cooperation with Japanese and Korean companies. In the Land of the Rising Sun, XLAB successfully sells its software products for business Internet communication called ISL Online (www.islonline.com).

XLAB started to penetrate the Japanese market in 2005, when the company decided to participate in the "EU Gateway to Japan" and was chosen through the tender. XLAB is one of the 2,400 companies from the EU Member States which has participated in a Gateway Mission since 1994. Today XLAB's success story is presented on the Programme's official website www.eu-gateway.eu.

The contacts made through the Programme led XLAB to a partnership with the company OceanBridge Inc., which since then has been taking care of localisation, promotion, distribution, and support of ISL Online products on the Japanese market.

XLAB has succeeded in the world's most technologically advanced ICT market with their innovative product line of on-demand software solutions for remote collaboration, work, and communication, which has gained XLAB a worldwide reputation. ISL Online products offer simple, yet highly secure access to remote computers with the possibility of video conferencing with business partners over the Internet in real time. Currently, their solutions are used by more than 60,000 users from more than 100 countries.

XLAB has been present on the Japanese market for almost two years. XLAB customers are mainly small and medium-sized companies, as well as industry giants. In 2008, XLAB concluded distribution agreements with some bigger Japanese companies, so in 2009 they expect their sales to at least double. XLAB estimates that the Japanese IT services market has enormous potential for sales of software solutions, its realisation however, requires a great deal of patience, precision and long-term commitment.

2009-05-13: Bring your visitors closer with ISL Pronto!

May 13th 2009. XLAB d.o.o., the developer of the product line named ISL Online (www.islonline.com), has recently released the first official version of ISL Pronto 1.0.0., a live chat software for online customer service and web support. ISL Pronto is free for users with valid ISL Online license or valid 15 days free trial.

Until now the beta version of ISL Pronto was in wide use for more than a year and since it has become a very popular and useful tool for many companies and individual users, XLAB has decided for its official release. Beta server will be shut down on May 15th, 2009.

ISL Pronto is free for existing ISL Light users. ISL Light, remote desktop control software solution, is a better known and established product of ISL Online product family, currently used by tens of thousands of companies worldwide. XLAB has made a step forward from its competitors by offering the market ALL IN ONE product package which beside ISL Light and ISL Pronto includes also ISL AlwaysOn (easy remote access) and ISL Groop (online meetings).

ISL Pronto is an efficient internet communication tool which allows you to reach your website visitors as they browse. It creates a link between company's personnel and website visitors enabling the company to promptly answer customers' sales inquiries and support requests online. Yet ISL Pronto is actually more than just a chat service. Its scalability of communication can lead a supporter or sales representative from a simple text chat to the rich media collaboration via voice, video and desktop sharing that allows him to get the interest of the client by presenting its company product while they talk.

Simplicity of use is an advantage of the product, although its functions are complex and the sessions are highly secure. The program is designed in a way to optimize company's work with their online customers. Operators can simultaneously chat with multiple visitors and use or create canned responses, making customer service more efficient and faster than the conventional phone sales or support. As each chat is an important source of information about the clients' needs, expectations, or problems, the chat transcript function can help a company use this information to improve upon their offer.

The unique package of four internet communication tools allows its users to offer an even more complete online support service. You can read more about XLAB's unique pricing policy and try for free all four products on their website www.islonline.com.

2008-09-23: XLAB Partnering with NEC

The companies first met in 2006, when cooperating in the 6th FP research project, XtreemOS (http://www.xtreemos.eu). Their aim was to design, develop and promote a Linux-based operating system with native support for establishing large-scale virtual organisations on future generation networks.

The long-term consulting contract between XLAB and NEC, to be more specific, the European daughter company of NEC, the High Performance Computing Europe division of NEC Deutschland, is a result of good cooperation and XLAB's excellent technical proficiency. XLAB has indeed successfully participated in a number of research projects concerned with distributed systems. In the scope of the future partnership, XLAB experts are cooperating in porting the GNU toolchain, Linux kernel and basic user-space tools to the NEC SX vector supercomputer architecture.

The contract represents an important milestone in XLAB's strategy to establish long-term relationships with world-leading IT and network solutions players, as well as a significant achievement of promoting Slovenian high-tech knowledge in the global market.

2008-06-17: ISL Online Updates

Operators, on the other hand, can easily manage the ISL Light and ISL Groop sessions as well as their ISL AlwaysOn remote computers at the new Product user pages. To login to the Product user pages, users navigate to ISL Online and click Product Login at the corresponding product. These pages also offer convenient Web access to ISL AlwaysOn remote computers, making it easy to connect to pre-installed computers from wherever the user might be.

Another big change in ISL AlwaysOn is that the Free Beta version, which has until now offered free access to remote PCs, has been replaced with the first release version ISL AlwaysOn 1.0.0. From 1st July onward, an active license will be required to continue using ISL AlwaysOn.

Another genuine improvement regards ISL Groop, a solution for online meetings. ISL Groop users will be happy to hear about the new Web administration supported in the Product user pages, where they can join in, invite participants, modify and delete their meetings. Whereas the newly released ISL Groop version 1.0.2 greatly improves audio communication between the meeting participants, it also assures a faster reconnection in the case of a short disconnection.

2008-04-30: ISL Light Donates to the Charity Organization Women Are Dreamers Too

Remote desktop support solution empowers the non-profit organization Women Are Dreamers Too to deliver technical assistance to candidates securely and remotely

Wadt

Xlab Ltd., the developer of the remote support, work, and collaboration tools ISL Online, announced that it had donated an ISL Online Server License package to Women Are Dreamers Too, a non-profit technical organization helping victims of domestic violence establish their own businesses and thus their economic independence. As Xlab has recently introduced an ALL IN ONE package, the donation actually contains four products: ISL Light (remote desktop support), ISL Groop (web meetings), ISL AlwaysOn (remote PC access) and ISL Pronto (web live chat).

»ISL Light will benefit all our candidates, current and future, since for the first time we are able to address connectivity issues, security, timely deployment of a myriad of business applications we have in our computer labs, servers and all other that are not readily available to our candidates instantaneously and effortlessly«, Cindy Williams, Ph.D., WaDt Executive Director. ISL Light enables the WaDt operators to securely view the other side's desktop, gain control of their keyboard and mouse, transfer files, use the whiteboard, and even communicate via an integrated text chat.

»Prior to ISL Light we were using VNC, which we had installed on our server in order to help our candidates remotely. We had since outgrown VNC since it had limitations and did not go far enough, but with ISL Light remote connections, timely delivery and deployment were very effortless«, Ms Williams explains further. »Our candidates have since been enjoying not having to haul their computers into the lab, our technical support guys made of volunteers throughout the Americas and Sweden have been helping us to troubleshoot computer problems remotely since ISL Light, which has made technical support save them money as they are now proffering from volunteer technical support, thanks to ISL Light. The security is what sets this product apart; new codes are issued to the candidates for each session, an added layer of security which we did not have with other products.«

2007-04-04: ISL AlwaysOn available for beta-testing

Starting today, ISL AlwaysOn is available for public beta-testing offering unlimited remote access. ISL AlwaysOn allows operators to start a secure fully featured remote desktop session with a computer or a server without the other side being present. Every session is secured with an end-to-end 256-bit AES encryption, whereas each client secures their computer with an additional personal password to authenticate the operator each time they access the computer. The client has the possibility of locking his/her computer in order to temporarily disallow access rights. During a remote desktop session, an operator is empowered to use every feature currently available in ISL Light: screen-sharing, keyboard- and mouse-control sharing, file-transfer, whiteboard, and video call.

ISL AlwaysOn gives operators greater flexibilty in terms of choosing their own working hours, administering a remote server, and also accessing their work computer remotely. The trial of this add-on is open to both the existing 17,000 ISL Light users and newcomers. The trial is completely free of charge until 1st June 2007 and does not set a limit on the number of computers on either side: the client's or the operator's. Operators can set up ISL AlwaysOn on all their clients' computers or servers that they want to service permanently. The setup is automatic and does not require any configurations. The setup finished, they can access a computer or a server by means of just 1 click.

To start using ISL AlwaysOn, please visit the ISL AlwaysOn Online Manual at: http://www.isllight.com/help/isl-alwayson.
